Jack's crash, Fall'05

Two weeks after I got back from my Seattle-to-Boston ride I was setting off for the grocery store on my 3-speed Raleigh with the rubber pedals and wicker basket. I was only ~200' down our alley when a stick from a neighbor's hedge trimming flipped up and jammed my front wheel. What I noticed first was that I broke my elbow, resulting in plate-and-screws surgery and now functionally recovered.

Only a month later, when I got back on the bike, did I find I have a bone bruise on the knee that's keeping me from nearly all riding. I took the left crank off my cross-country bike and put a stationary pedal in its place. So I'm limping along one-legged but now (Jan'06) healing slowly.
