Hazel began in summer 2005 (while I was away for 2 months on my cross-country ride) taking a few Portland Community College courses as part of her homeschooling. This Fall she's been in 3rd-quarter Spanish & taking a life-drawing class there, also for credit. She still does a lot of dancing with her hip-hop performance group and we all get along amazingly well. You can see her and some of her art of 2 years ago among 11 photos from 2004.

Two weeks after I got back from my cross-country ride I had one of the worst crashes in years, breaking my elbow, while just riding to our local grocery store on our old Raleigh 3-speed! I put 7 relevant photos on the web. That bike was stolen in January and not recovered. Taking more (but not yet enough) precautions, I had another stolen in August. The amazing story of its recovery is well illustrated by this article.

We went to Spain for the 1st time this May, landing in Malaga. We put my new bike on a rented car and much enjoyed a week around the nearby coast, mountains and Granada before we split up. I went off with a group of 32 mostly Portlanders for 560 wonderful mountainous miles and flew home on my own. M&H went on to Seville, Toledo, Segovia and Madrid by car & train. I finally am quite happy with my slideshow at Picasa.

Marion has quit her paid job of the last 2 years, writing e-banking Java. She's now working with a friend on a collaborative map-based travel information website. I'm still volunteering @Metro about half time, working on regional bicycle maps & with a prototype trip planner finally on the web.

Hazel & I again rode the Northwest Tandem Rally, this time with our friends Hazel & Marc Betz, another father-daughter homeschool team. The most fun parts for me were the two girls on the same bike and my riding the Counterpoint with Hazel Betz playing Celtic fiddle on the front!

Dancing highlights this year include several contra dance weekend camps (one with sister Dudley over Labor Day!) and a week of waltz & swing at Stanford in July (when we got to hang out with many old friends and niece Carolyn).
