Newlevant News 2010

Hazel's first year of adulthood was a whirlwind, as she dove headfirst into pursuing her dream of working in comics, first interning at Top Shelf Productions, then working as an editorial assistant at Dark Horse Comics, as well as self-publishing two of her own mini-comics and editing an anthology of tragic comics and writing, Ultimate Sadness. She'll be returning to PCC in the winter to complete her Associate's Degree, and then faces the thrilling yet terrifying possibility of moving away to attend an art school which offers an undergraduate program in (you guessed it!) comics.

Marion continues building her waltz empire, putting on a weekly Monday night dance with once-a-month musicians jam. She has finished her restoration of and now rented her "little house". She's working hard on extending her web-development career. We went to a couple of contra dance weekends including the annual family pilgrimage to FolkLife in Seattle.

Jack's cycling looks headed toward about 5700 miles this year (as you can see in his retrospective spreadsheet), including some on trips to Europe & Mexico with his long-time friend and travelling companion, Diane Merrill. He had the pleasure of another Northwest Tandem Rally but now with his blind stoker of the last 2 years, Greg Krolicki (see pictures from one of their local weekly outings or a summary of those outings this year), and much enjoyed his first week-long Idaho Bike Ride. At Metro he continues volunteering and got another bit of paid work: a major update of the street data behind a new edition of their printed BikeThere! map.
